Essential information about the rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 on environmental surfaces
SARS-CoV-2 also transmits via contaminated surfaces. Therefore, environmental monitoring of potentially contaminated surfaces is important in reducing the risk of infection with the new coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

- Intended use: environmental surface monitoring for SARS-CoV-2
- For research use only: 10 tests in a kit
- Sample type: swab (liquid or solid environmental samples)
- Testing time: 10 minutes
- Limit of Detection: 1.15 x 104 to 8.625 x 104 on working surfaces
- Certificates: ISO 9001
The test detects SARS-CoV-2 on the environmental surfaces in 10 minutes.
Frequently asked questions about the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 environmental surfaces test
The SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Environmental Surface Antigen Test is a qualitative, lateral flow immunoassay for the detection of Nucleocapsid protein (NP) in environmental specimens.
It is a hygiene test intended for environmental monitoring purposes.
The testing kit includes all the tools needed to perform 10 analysis.
- 10 test strips
- 10 sterile swabs
- 10 extraction tubes
- Extraction buffer
- Instructions for use
Detection limit with the Rapid SARS-Cov-2 surface test was validated in liquid and on different solid surfaces (PVC, stainless steel, glass surface, food packaging, kitchen countertop, door handle).
The validation study found that this rapid test detects heat-inactivated virus already at the concentration of 1.15 x 104 TCID50/ml in liquids and 8.625 x 104 TCID50/ml on solid surfaces.
This is much less than a concentration of 3.38 × 105 TCID50/ml, which is believed to be a virus concentration in body fluids.1

No, this is a rapid test you perform on sight without the need for any laboratory instruments to carry out the analysis.
But you must wear protective gear when you deal with potentially infectious material.
SARS-CoV-2 can persist on environmental surfaces for days.
Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 spreads primarily via respiratory droplets containing the virus, but studies suggest it can spread via contaminated surfaces.
Virus can persist on certain materials for up to several days2:
- Stainless steel: 3-4 days
- Plastic: 3-4 days
- Glass: 2 days
- Cloth: 1 day
- Surgical mask: 7 days (outer layer), 4 days (inner layer)
- Paper: 30 minutes
- Banknote paper: 2 days
- Cardboard: 1 day
- Wood: 1 day
Environmental monitoring to identify potential contamination with SARS-CoV-2 is therefore important to reduce the risk of infection.

The test can detect very low concentrations of SARS-CoV-2 on surfaces.
This hygiene test detects a concentration of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 much lower than 3.38 × 105 TCID50/ml, which is believed to be a concentration of a virus in body fluids.3
In the validation study, liquid and common solid surfaces were taken into consideration.
In liquid specimens, the test detected a concentration of 1.15 x 104 of the heat-inactivated virus (TCID50/ml).
On the following solid surfaces, in 95% of cases, the test detected a concentration of a heat-inactivated virus as low as 8.625 x 104.
- PVC working surfaces
- Stainless Steel working surfaces
- Glass Surface
- Food Packaging
- Kitchen Countertop
- Door Handle

The rapid antigen test does not react against other common human coronaviruses (Alpha coronavirus 229E, Alpha coronavirus NL63, Beta coronavirus OC43, and Beta coronavirus HKU1).
Fast 3-step testing procedure
Analyzing environmental samples with this hygiene test is simple but pay special attention to the proper specimen collection.
- Swab the surface.
- Mix specimen with the extraction buffer.
- Insert test strip into the tube with the extract.
Then wait 10 minutes to read the result.

How to interpret the result?
The result of the SARS-CoV-2 surface antigen test is interpreted visually as positive, negative, or invalid.
Positive: control and test lines appear.
Negative: only control line appears.
Invalid: please take a photo of such test result and contact us at help@patris-health.com
