Which test after unprotected sex?

What to do with the result
If the result is positive, see a doctor for confirmation and treatment. Do not have sex until a doctor has examined you and, if needed, treated you. Tell recent partners so they can test too. A negative result soon after contact does not rule out an infection: test again later, or see a doctor if you have symptoms. This test checks for syphilis only; other infections need their own tests.
How these self-tests work
Each kit contains everything you need except a timer. You take the sample, apply it to the test device and read the lines after the time stated in the instructions. A self-test is a screening test: it tells you whether a value is above or below a threshold, while a laboratory measures the exact number.
