Which test for prostate, kidneys or liver?
- PSA Home Test Shows whether your prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is raised. A drop of blood from the fingertip, result in 10 minutes.
- Kidney Function Home Test (Albumin) Shows whether your kidneys are letting the protein albumin through into the urine. A urine sample, result in 5 to 10 minutes.
- Liver Function Home Test (ALT and AST) Shows whether your liver enzymes ALT and AST are raised. A drop of blood from the fingertip, result in 10 minutes.
What to do with the result
If a result is above normal, see your doctor, who can repeat the measurement in a laboratory and look for the cause. A normal result does not replace regular check-ups with your doctor.
How these self-tests work
Each kit contains everything you need except a timer. You take the sample, apply it to the test device and read the lines after the time stated in the instructions. The tests are CE-marked in-vitro diagnostic medical devices for self-testing, made in France and certified by notified body 0483. A self-test is a screening test: it tells you whether a value is above or below a threshold, while a laboratory measures the exact number.
Common questions
Does a raised PSA mean prostate cancer?
No. A raised PSA has several causes and is not a diagnosis. It is a reason to see your doctor for further checks.
How accurate are these tests?
In the evaluation studies, the PSA test agreed with the laboratory method in 97 % of cases and the Liver test in about 96 %. The Kidney test produced no false-negative results. Details are on each product page.
How quickly will I have the test?
